As the year comes to a close, turbulent times can leave us feeling overwhelmed and worried, coming plans and other things in correlation. It’s important to remember that these times of chaos and uncertainty pass and that we can stay calm during them. The key is to focus on what we can control and have the right tools in place to help us manage our stress levels. Below are some tips on how to stay calm in turbulent times.

1) Acknowledge Your Emotions: In order to remain calm in tumultuous times, it is critical to take time for self-reflection and allow yourself to feel all your emotions. Don’t try to suppress strong feelings like anger or fear — instead, accept them as a normal part of life. Even if you don’t understand why something is happening, understanding your emotions will help you better cope with the situation at hand.

2) Practice Relaxation Techniques: Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, yoga, mindfulness meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation can be incredibly helpful during times of stress or anxiety. Taking even a few minutes out of your day for relaxation practices can help reduce physical tension, lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone), and improve emotion regulation skills — all of which will ultimately lead you to feel calmer overall.

3) Stick To A Healthy Routine: Having a regular sleep schedule, eating healthy meals throughout the day, engaging in regular exercise, and taking occasional breaks from work are all important components of keeping yourself emotionally regulated during turbulent times. Practicing healthy habits helps reduce anxiety levels while also providing a sense of structure and routine that can be comforting when everything else feels chaotic around you.

4) Stay Connected: Connecting with friends, family members, or even colleagues over video chat or phone calls can provide comfort in difficult situations. By talking through feelings together and sharing experiences with others who understand where you are coming from it helps create an environment of support and understanding that helps alleviate worry or fear by reminding us we are not alone in our struggles.

5) Focus On What You Can Control: We often feel powerless when we experience chaotic events because so much is outside our control — however focusing on what we do have power over can remind us that not everything has been taken away from us completely yet still allows us room for personal growth regardless of the situation at hand. This could include things like setting positive goals for yourself each day or taking time for self-care activities like reading a book or listening to music — anything that brings joy into your life no matter how small it may seem will help keep you grounded on days where it seems like everything else around you is spinning out of control.

Turbulent times will pass eventually but until then remember these tips so that you can stay calm in chaotic moments! Take deep breaths when needed throughout the day and practice mindful gratitude for all the good things still present in your life despite everything else going on around you — this perspective shift alone may be enough to bring peace back into your life momentarily until the storm passes again soon enough!
